No Honor among Thieves - Arlen Spector's Angry At Obama For Betraying Him

http://listverse.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/ratatouille_brothers.jpg?w=550&h=419

Remember Arlen Spector? The genuinely nasty RINO ex-Senator who betrayed Pennsylvania's voters and his own party to become the 60th vote for ObamaCare?

Apparently the senator's angry he didn't get his promised payoff:

Former Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) writes in a new book that President Obama ditched him in the 2010 election after he helped Obama win the biggest legislative victory of his term by passing healthcare reform.

Specter also claims that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) did not uphold his promise to grant him seniority accrued over 28 years of service in the Senate as a Republican.{...}

Specter writes that Obama turned down a request to campaign with him in the final days of the primary, because the president’s advisers feared he would look weak if he intervened and Specter lost. {...}

The snub was made all the more painful by Obama flying over Philadelphia en route to New York City a few days before the election and then on primary day jetting over Pittsburgh to visit a factory in Youngstown, Ohio, 22 miles from the Pennsylvania border, to promote the 2009 economic stimulus law. The painful irony for Specter is that his vote for the stimulus legislation, which was instrumental to its passage, hastened his departure from the Republican Party.{...}

Specter believes Reid acted with “duplicity” while managing the party switch. Specter said Reid promised him that he would be recognized on the seniority list as a Democrat elected in 1980, but failed to deliver on it.

Had Specter been given the seniority he was promised, he would have become chairman of the powerful Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations subcommittee and next in line to chair the Judiciary Committee.

Instead, Reid stripped Specter of all his seniority by passing a short resolution by unanimous consent in a nearly-empty chamber, burying him at the bottom of the Democrats’ seniority list.

Specter found out about it after his press secretary emailed him a press account of the switch. Specter was floored that Reid had “violated a fundamental Senate practice to give personal notice to a senator directly affected by the substance of a unanimous consent agreement.”

Somewhere I hear John Bolton giggling.

Typically, Spector's whining rant is not quite accurate. After all President Obama did try to help him by illegally offering his primary opponent Joe Sestak a federal job to stay out of the primary. What more did he expect? They used him and simply dumped him when he wasn't useful anymore.

You can't ever do enough for some rats...the more you feed 'em, the more they want.

AG Holder And The DOJ Strike A Blow To Help Voter Fraud

True to form, Attorney General Eric Holder has doubled down on his racist rant last December attacking voter ID laws.

The Department of Justice has blocked the new voter ID law in Texas, on the grounds it discriminates against Hispanics:

“Even using the data most favorable to the state, Hispanics disproportionately lack either a driver’s license or a personal identification card,” wrote Thomas Perez, head of the Justice Department’s civil rights division, in a letter to Keith Ingram, director of elections for the Texas Secretary of State.

Now, I wonder why the DOJ would claim that such a large proportion of Texas Hispanics lack these things. Could it be because a substantial part of the Hispanic population of Texas are there illegally? Say, 6% of the state's population as a whole, and almost 20% of the Hispanic population in Texas, according to the latest estimates?

Holder and the DOJ used the same strategy to block a voter ID law in South Carolina, saying the law discriminates against blacks.

The loophole they're using is in Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, passed almost 50 years go. It requires 16 states or parts of states with a history of discrimination to receive federal “pre-clearance” on any changes to their voting laws. Sins of the fathers indeed.

This is the first time the Department of Justice has directly intervened to block voter-identification laws in nearly 20 years. The Texas law isn’t substantially different than the Georgia and Indiana voter ID laws, both of which have been in place more than five years.

In fact, the Supreme Court already ruled the Indiana law constitutional by a mere 6-3 majority. Texas and South Carolina are going to court to contest this, but it's uncertain whether the matter will come to trial before the 2012 elections.

Holder's assault on these laws is pretty simple to explain.President Obama is up for re-election, the Senate is at stake and for the Democrats voter fraud is the only way they have a shot at maintaining and turning out large enough 'majorities' in the large Democrat ruled urban machines like Chicago and Los Angeles to offset votes from other parts of Blue states, 'win' elections and stay in power.

Needless to say, the Democrats and their media allies aren't going to say that. So they cite two seriously flawed arguments to cover for it. The first one is that minorities, people who don't drive, are poor or whom are elderly are somehow discriminated against if they are made to obtain a photo ID.

The truth? A photo ID is free for the asking to the poor in every state, because it's a law in every state of the union that valid ID needs to be presented to any peace officer that asks to see it. In many cases, it's necessary for basic operations like obtaining a library card, opening a bank account or cashing a check at the local market. As for the elderly, most municipalities have transportation available for retirees and the elderly either in the form of taxi coupons, special buses or vans paid for by tax dollars.

Having never been working class themselves for the most part, the elites pushing this don't realize that a lot of people simply aren't interested in voting, or deliberately don't vote to keep themselves off the jury duty rolls to keep from losing a few days work they can ill afford to miss.

The second argument is that the problem of voter fraud is 'minimal', a problem that doesn't exist. There's even a demonstrably cooked 'study' or two to cite. Are they right?

First of all, 'minimal' is a subjective judgment, based on who's counting. For instance, in 2009 there were a total of 13,257 new cases of AIDS originating from heterosexual contact reported in the US. As a percentage of the US population, that works out to about .000043%, something most mathematicians would call negligible. However, the government spends millions of dollars each year promoting the safe sex message and urging condom use, and if you notice, the ads almost always feature heterosexual couples or females, who have an even lower incidence of AIDS from heterosexual contact then do males. Of course, if you or one of your loved ones is part of the statistic, it's tremendously important to you and if you were to ask someone from the Department of Health and Human Services, they'd undoubtedly tell you that even one case is too many and justifies the most stringent methods at prevention.

Since voter fraud is an infection of our democracy, shouldn't we be just as concerned about preventing it?

Actually, the incidents of voter fraud, particularly when it comes to fraudulent registration are rampant and easy to find with a simple internet search. And another item of interest is that the reported instances are a lot lower than they might be simply because elected officials and their appointees charged with enforcing the laws in these matters ( almost always Democrats) frequently refuse to investigate and prosecute.

An example I'm personally familiar with involves Bob Dornan, a long time conservative California Republican congressman whose district was redrawn by the Democrat majority in Sacramento. In 1996, Dornan was narrowly defeated for re-election by Democrat Loretta Sanchez by a mere 984 votes.

Congressman Dornan charged that there had been massive election fraud in his district involving non-citizens. He did his own investigation and was able to prove that that there were at least 1,789 illegal voters, and perhaps more. According to John Funds' book Stealing Elections, the INS did it's own investigation in 1996 into alleged voter fraud in California's Forty-sixth Congressional District and found that based on registrations that didn't match up: "4,023 illegal voters possibly cast ballots in the disputed election between Republican Robert Dornan and Democrat Loretta Sanchez." (p. 24).

The House Contested Elections Committee in the Spring of 1997 did a cursory investigation of its own and came up with proof that 547 non-citizens voted in Orange County and that 303 more had been registered to vote in the 46th District by Hermandad Nacional Mexicana, a non profit funded with government grants that actively registered non-citizens to vote and instructed them
on how to mark their absentee ballots.

So at the least, you could say that Dornan had a case and that this called for a thorough investigation by the Department of Justice.

The end result? Democrat Attorney General Janet Reno formally declined to investigate, based on her subjective judgment that 'not enough fraud occurred' to change the results and of course, possibly unseat a Democrat member of Congress.

Want more? One of the most recent well-publicized voter fraud cases occurred in the Washington State governor’s race in November 2004 in which Democrat Christine Gregoire allegedly defeated Republican Dino Rossi by just 129 votes after weeks of vote counting.

Later, the Washington State Superior Court found that 1,400 felons voted illegally, along with illegal votes cast by 53 dead people, two non-citizens and 27 double votes. Since Washington State doesn't have party voter registration, there was no way of proving exactly how they voted, so the judge ruled there was not enough proof to void the election. However, it's worth mentioning that almost all of the violations occurred in the Democrat stronghold of King County. You might remember that one, because it involved a number of voters claiming the address of the State Democrat party headquarters in Seattle their 'residence'. A similar tactic seems to have been used in this recent case in Wisconsin.

There are numerous other incidents I could cite. For instance, you could spend hours just reading about President Obama's old friends at ACORN.

The core of the problem stems from a really bad piece of legislation, passed,of course by a Democrat-dominated Congress. President Clinton's National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) known as the Motor-Voter law makes voter registration virtually automatic when you apply for a driver's license and called for distributing registration applications in state welfare offices. Under this law, the information supplied by the applicant for a license doubles as information for voter registration unless the applicant indicates that he/she doesn't want to be registered. It also has restrictions that prevent states from culling the rolls in a timely manner to eliminate dead people and people whom may no longer be residents in the area or whom have lost their voting rights due to felony convictions.

With several states now issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens, the voter registration rolls have become contaminated with a number of people who are not legally entitled to vote. There was a move in Congress to change the law to not include voter registration for non-citizens in 1998. It was narrowly defeated, with nearly every Democrat in Congress voting against, so let there be no mistake that to Democrats, illegal aliens are a constituency.

It's also worth mentioning that for illegal aliens, a voter registration card is one of the proofs of citizenship legally allowed to be used to help establish identity for the purposes of 'legal' employment. That and a social security card are all you need.

Not only that, but theres absolutely nothing to stop indigent 'rent-a voters' , illegal aliens or even campaign workers from being trucked by interested parties with access to voter registration data to states with no photo ID requirements and same day registration to vote early and often. Yes, in more than one case the dead have been found to have risen and voted Democrat!

And then, there's my own experience. When I drove my elderly mother to the polls in California to vote I stood in line next to her. After my mom finished signing in, the poll worker asked me my name, to which I responded jokingly 'Chauffeur'. My mom told the pol worker "That's my son", after which the poll worker responded "I'll mark him down as living at the same address' and handed me a ballot. I was not even asked for an ID. And yes, I gave it back to the poll worker.

There's another side to voter fraud that's particularly odious - vote suppression. Again, the chief culprits are Democrats and the chief victims military voters stationed overseas.

It's pretty well known that Al Gore and his team used technicalities and friendly Democrat appointed officials to disqualify the ballots of almost 2,000 members of our military serving overseas in the 2000 Florida presidential election.

What's less well known is that this process wasn't limited to Florida, and was so egregious by the 2008 election that Congress passed the Federal Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act (the MOVE Act), which among other things mandated that ballots be in the hands of ourtroops overseas no less than 45 days prior to elections.

Eric Holder and the Obama Department of Justice prior to the 2010 midterms engaged in a systematic campaign to encourage states to seek waivers not to comply with the law and to suppress the military vote, a constituency that was perceived by them as largely Republican. Congress found out in a subsequent investigation when it was too late to do anything about it that the worst offenders were states and counties run by Democrats. In fact, the Justice Department employee who was the chief contact person in encouraging jurisdictions not to comply with the law and seek waivers was actually promoted.

Voter fraud 'minimal'? Again, I guess it depends on who's counting. And of course, who benefits.

Michigan Primary: Santorum A Willing Tool For Daily Kos And Soros Media In RoboCalls

A few weeks ago, the far Left site Daily Kos suggested that 'progressives' vote en masse for Rick Santorum in the open Michigan GOP primary , someone they clearly see as the weaker and more easily beatable candidate. Talking Points Memo and the rest of the Soros media slaves soon picked up on the idea, and they found a willing tool in Santorum himself.

Santorum blanketed Michigan with robocalls criticizing Mitt Romney for opposing the GM and Chrysler bailouts:

“On Tuesday, join Democrats who are going to send a loud message to Massachusetts Mitt Romney.” says the Santorum robo call to Michigan Democrats.

“Romney supported the bailout for his billionaire buddies but opposed the auto bailout. That was a slap in the face to every Michigan worker,” the robo call adds. It ends with the line: “Paid for by Rick Santorum.”

Of course, the call doesn't mention that Rick Santorum also opposed the auto bailout.

It's interesting that just a few weeks ago in Minnesota, Rick Santorum was strongly against open primaries like Michigan's, saying: "We want the activists of the party, the people who make up the backbone of the Republican Party to have a say in who our nominee is as opposed to a bunch of people who don't even identify themselves as Republicans picking our nominee. I don't like that. I believe that states should only allow Republicans to vote in Republican primaries."

Ah well. Like Boss Tweed, he seen his opportunities and he took 'em.

The way things appear to be playing out now, Mitt Romney is projected to have achieved a narrow win in Michigan, 41.3% against 38.7% for Rick Santorum. Arizona is still voting, but expected to be a decisive win for Romney.

Michigan awards it delegates proportionally on a congressional district basis, while Arizona is winner take all. So all Rick Santorum appears to have done is shown that he's more than willing to embrace some fairly sleazy behavior while actually achieving very little. And of course, keeping this going for himself a bit longer.

For interested parties, Newt Gingrich ended up finishing dead last, with projected tally of about 6.5% of the vote while Ron Paul ended up with 11.2% as of this writing.

Obama's Green Energy Scam - $3.9 Billion To Well Connected Obama Donors

If even the Washington Post is finally forced to report on this, you know it's bad. Solyndra was by no means the only instance of Chicago-style graft in the White House.

Sanjay Wagle was a venture capitalist and Barack Obama fundraiser in 2008, rallying support through a group he headed known as Clean Tech for Obama.

Shortly after Obama’s election, he left his California firm to join the Energy Department, just as the administration embarked on a massive program to stimulate the economy with federal investments in clean-technology firms.

Following an enduring Washington tradition, Wagle shifted from the private sector, where his firm hoped to profit from federal investments, to an insider’s seat in the administration’s $80 billion clean-energy investment program.

He was one of several players in venture capital, which was providing financial backing to start-up clean-tech companies, who moved into the Energy Department at a time when the agency was seeking outside expertise in the field. At the same time, their industry had a huge stake in decisions about which companies would receive government loans, grants and support.

During the next three years, the department provided $2.4 billion in public funding to clean-energy companies in which Wagle’s former firm, Vantage Point Venture Partners, had invested, a Washington Post analysis found. Overall, the Post found that $3.9 billion in federal grants and financing flowed to 21 companies backed by firms with connections to five Obama administration staffers and advisers.

Obama’s program to invest federal funds in start-up companies — and the failure of some of those companies — is becoming a rallying cry for opponents in the presidential race. Mitt Romney has promised to focus on Obama’s “record” as a “venture capitalist.” And in ads and speeches, conservative groups and the Republican candidates are zeroing in on the administration’s decision to extend $535 million to the now-shuttered solar firm Solyndra and billions of dollars more to clean-tech start-ups backed by the president’s political allies.

And of course, some of the trails lead straight back to ...George Soros, who stands to make over $120 million dollars on stock he owns in Westport Innovations, a Canadian company that distributes now selling liquefied natural gas-powered engines manufactured in China. Kevin G. Douglas, Westport’s largest individual shareholder, has given more than $30,000 to Obama and the Democratic National Committee and both he and Soros stand to benefit hugely from a bill pushed by Obama and the Democrats ironically called - wait for it - the New Alternative Transportation to Give Americans Solutions Act. The bill will give tax credits to firms purchasing the Chinese-made engines to replace diesel and gasoline engines in their fleets, with most of them coming through the Canadian firm Westport.

Call it a Chicago-style coincidence.I'm sure the president does.

California's Latest- $1,000 Fine For Throwing Footballs, Frisbees Or Building Sand Castles On L.A. Beaches

No, I'm not kidding.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors just passed an ordinance to raise fines to up to $1,000 for anyone who throws a football or a Frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County. No baseball either, not even a softball or a whiffle ball. Nothing except beach balls.

What, you haven't heard about the hundreds of fatal Frisbee injuries on L.A. County's beaches? Oh, wait,I haven't either.

Sorry kids, no sand castles either. The ordinance also prohibits digging any hole deeper than 18 inches into the sand except where permission is granted for film and TV production crews only. Which of course the Board of Supervisors expects to make them pay through the nose for.

The Board of Supervisors would have you believe that this is about public safety. What it's really about is that the Democrat ruled county's desperate for more money to spend on their pet projects and they hope to catch a few hundred tourists or locals unfamiliar with the new laws who look like they have the money to pay these outlandish fines and soak them good.

Imagine getting charged a grand in fines because your kid had the temerity to make a sand castle at the beach.

This from a place that's officially a sanctuary city for illegal aliens and cheerfully welcomed the OWS crowd to camp out at Los Angeles City Hall and do better than a million dollars worth of damage they then shrugged and billed the taxpayers for.

They undoubtedly will catch some people..but the savvy locals will simply go south to Orange County or north to Ventura County to the perfectly good beaches there, and the budget conscious film and TV productions will continue their exodus from what used to be the home of the movie industry. I know a number of experienced people who are already finding film work tougher and tougher to come by.

If you're thinking of coming to Los Angeles, I'd advise you not to bother unless you're the sort of person who likes seeing train wrecks up close. Or at least if you do, stay off the beach.

I grew up here and I used to love the freedom, the great weather, the open air and yes, the beaches. During my touring days, I used to look forward to returning. Nowadays, I'm just running out the clock until it's time to leave.

MF Global's Jon Corzine Raises $500K For Obama

Well, at least we know now where some of that $ 1.2 billion in investor funds that's 'missing' went!

According the Barack Obama's 2012 campaign website, Jon Corzine of Hoboken, New Jersey raised at least $500,000 for the president's reelection effort.

Corzine, of course, has most recently been in the news for being on the wrong side of a $6.3 billion bet as head of MF Global. "MF Global filed for bankruptcy on October 31, after $6.3 billion in risky bets on European sovereign debt spooked investors and an effort to sell the company failed," Reuters reported. "Investigators are searching for as much as $1.2 billion in missing customer money, which regulators said the company may have diverted for its own needs."

Later, Corzine admitted he could not account for the $1.2 billion.

Ah the sweet smell of The Chicago Way..if the president gets re-elected, any bets out there on how soon Jon Corzine gets a pardon if he ends up being convicted?

CBC Chairman Emanuel Cleaver: 'Hey, We're Racists! What Of It?'

That's not exactly verbatim, but it's essentially what the Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus said:

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver — the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus – told The Daily Caller that African Americans won’t “march on the White House” over the high unemployment rate in the black community because President Barack Obama is black.

Following his appearance at Republican Rep. Allen West’s Black Conservative Forum, Cleaver elaborated on his past comments about Obama’s image in the African American community, saying, “The point I was making is that black people hold the president in such high esteem, that they would not dare march on the White House even though unemployment is at 15 percent and higher and if there was a white president we would do that because we’ve had white presidents since George Washington.”

Cleaver continued, “The point was that if we had anybody else in the White House, with this level of unemployment, that you know, you would see a lot more African Americans, African American organizations and retro organizations speaking out against it. But because he is revered, you know, he gets I guess the benefit of, you know, understanding that the situation was terrible when he came in. So, we’re not doing that.”

The Missouri Democrat told The DC that he personally resisted a proposed Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) “prayer” demonstration at the White House.

“I was resistant to a group of individuals who wanted to lock arms, surround the White House, with several thousand people during the ALC this past October and pray. I resisted it because I thought if we did that it would be interpreted as some kind of assault on the president, which I was not willing to launch,” he said.

So...it's OK to trash President Bush simply because he's white, but President Obama is sacrosanct just because he's black for even worse performance.

Does anyone have any doubt that if whites used exactly the same criteria in criticizing President Obama while giving a white president a pass Rep. Cleaver and his friends would be foaming at the mouth and screaming "Racism" ?

You see, Racism really is colorblind, as Dr, King so clearly saw.

It's an ugly cancer no matter who wears the sheet.

Senior Aide to Democrat Senator Kerry Charged With Leaking Classified Information

The Justice Department has charged John Kiriakou, a former CIA officer and former senior Democrat Senate aide to John Kerry with being the source of major media leaks compromising national security, disclosing the identity of an undercover officer and lying to the CIA about the origin of other sensitive material he published in a book. He faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.

Kiriakou is also a popular Huffington Post columnist.Or was, at any rate.

He first surfaced in the public eye in a 2007 interview with ABC News, where he claimed to have played a major role as a CIA agent in the capture and interrogation of al-Qaeda terrorist Abu Zubaydah, who was waterboarded. He was a huge source for the 'waterboarding is torture' crowd.

Three years, when he published a book about his CIA experiences (and presumably after he cashed his advance check), he admitted on the second to last page that he hadn't participated at all in the capture and interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, but just relied on what he'd heard about it.

The charges of disclosing the identity of an undercover officer came about because information Kiriakou supplied to journalists at Guantanamo Bay enabled defense attorneys there to obtain photographs of CIA operatives suspected of being involved in interrogations. Some of the pictures were subsequently discovered in the cells of terrorist detainees.

A real prince, no?

I can't help but wonder if the Obama Administration is planning on prosecuting the journalists and defense attorneys who aided and abetted - not to mention the editors and publishers. I doubt it, but it would certainly be fair and just to do so.

Do you get the feeling Kiriakou learned about ethics and patriotism from his old boss Senator Kerry, who met with the North Vietnamese in Paris during the Vietnam War to plot strategy on how to undermine the US war effort?

Obama Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett Uses Church Pulpit To Blast Republicans

Senior Obama Advisor Valarie Jarrett celebrated MLK Day by using the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta for a rabid political speech damning Republicans and shilling for her boss:

"Teachers, and firefighters, and policemen, whose jobs are now in jeopardy because Congress--well let me be specific--because the Republicans in Congress," Jarrett told the crowd. According to the CBS affiliate in Atlanta, at this point, "Before she could finish her sentence, people in the congregation were laughing, and applauding."

At the Sunday service, Jarrett also brought up Osama bin Laden's death in order to praise the president. "We all sleep a little better at night knowing Osama Bin Laden and his lieutenants are not plotting a terrorist attack against the United States," Jarrett said. Then she pivoted to Iraq: "I saw so many soldiers returning home from their last tour of duty in Iraq, in time for the Christmas holidays."

At the end of Sunday's sermon, after Jarrett had delivered her remarks to the congregation, the church held a voter registration drive.

The height of chutzpah to use Dr. Martin Luther King's own church to libel the Republican party Dr. King was a member of his entire life, no?

And I certainly wish someone had been there when she mentioned all those soldiers returning from Iraq to ask her why her boss was tossing so many of them out of the military with no benefits to fend for themselves in the poisonous job market he's created. Somehow, I think a question like that would not have been greeted with love and Christian tolerance.

Another thing comes to mind...why is a church with its tax exempt status feel free to use its pulpit as an arena to give a full on political 'sermon'?

Ah, I forgot. It's only a violation of the Leftist mantra of 'a wall between church and state' when their political enemies do it.
