Some of you thought I was reaching a little bit when I suggested yesterday that the Obama Administration may have decided to throw the fight and let the Supreme Court overturn ObamaCare to help win the election. Well, look what crawled out of the woodwork...two very well connected and informed Democrats that feel exactly the same way:
Neither of them is saying that President Obama is deliberately letting ObamaCare go down in flames - just pointing out the benefits.
I'll repeat the scenario I mentioned yesterday... ObamaCare's repealed, and President Obama is able to jettison a markedly unpopular issue that's been a major rallying point for Republicans while giving him the issue of saying how he'll fix healthcare during his next term.
Employers start hiring, especially small businesses now that they don't have ObamaCare staring them in the face. Unemployment drops, the Dow goes up,the president can say his 'policies' are working. The American people get gulled into thinking things are headed in the right direction, Obama gets re-elected..and then is free to proceed in destroying America and its economy without fear of any electoral consequences. Even better,he gets a chance at nominating at least two more Supreme Court justices with the radical viewpoints and ideology similar to those he's already nominated, so that the changes he makes stay that way.
Crazy, yes. But stranger things have happened since Barack Obama slithered into the Oval Office.

Democrats: Overturning ObamaCare Helps Them In The Election

The Iran Sanctions That Aren't - State Department Give Waivers to 11 Countries

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced today that the State Department is exempting 10 European countries and Japan from penalties for doing business with Iran's central bank:
"I am pleased to announce that an initial group of eleven countries has significantly reduced their volume of crude oil purchases from Iran -- Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom. As a result, I will report to the Congress that sanctions pursuant to Section 1245 of the National Defense Authorization Act for 2012 (NDAA) will not apply to the financial institutions based in these countries, for a renewable period of 180 days," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a Tuesday statement. "The actions taken by these countries were not easy. They had to rethink their energy needs at a critical time for the world economy and quickly begin to find alternatives to Iranian oil, which many had been reliant on for their energy needs."
Of course, Mrs. Clinton didn't mention that Iran has already announced it would no longer sell crude to France and the United Kingdom, so they're getting a waiver based on Iran's actions, not theirs. And the other EU countries have already announced they will phase out all purchases of Iranian oil by July 1st. However, at this point it really doesn't matter. Without barring countries from dealing with Iran's Central Bank the oil sanctions are almost meaningless.
Let me explain to you why. Oil is fungible, and as we saw with the UN's Oil for Food scandal involving Saddam Hussein and Iraq, it's easily transferable, can easily be moved through other hands to disguise its origin and can be swapped via third parties for other items. The US could even end up buying Iranian oil if it was shipped to say, Venezuela and reflagged. But take away the ability of buyers to pay Iran for it directly by isolating Iran's central bank and it becomes a much more difficult and costly matter.
One of the few effective things President George W. Bush did in the period after 9/11 to fight Islamist terrorism was to identify the banks used to bankroll it and a number of questionable individuals and organizations who held accounts in otherwise legitimate institutions. Aside from freezing all suspect assets here in America and blocking US financial institutions from having any dealings with the suspect accounts and organizations, President Bush successfully got foreign financial institutions to cooperate by ordering US financial institutions not to deal with banks overseas handling accounts for places like the Islamic Cultural Center in Milan, Italy, Al Taqwa Construction in Dubai and the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society(RIHS) in Kuwait, all al-Qaeda and Hamas fronts. Since the world's banking system is wired through New York, most countries complied, which led to something like $79.9 million in terrorist assets being seized.
If President Obama was actually serious about stopping Iran's nuclear weapons program and ending Iran's financing of terrorism, he'd do something similar and make all of Iran's banks including Iran's central bank persona non grata in the world's financial systems using the same tools. Even countries like China and India might decide that forgoing Iranian oil was better than having their ability to perform financial transactions here in America compromised or curtailed.
But then, that was never going to happen with this president. I've become fairly convinced that President Obama isn't particularly exercised about whether Iran goes nuclear or not. He might just take a wag the dog option to pull off a strike on Iran if he's lagging in the polls come October, but failing that, he appears to be fine with it.
Either he's simply clueless and doesn't see the danger, is too preoccupied with his domestic agenda and his re-election bid,or feels that America needs to be taken down a peg. Or perhaps a combination of all three.

WH Press Sec Carney: 'President Obama Doesn't Like To Play Politics On Keystone'
Jay Carney is a unique human being, and likely worth every penny of his taxpayer funded salary to the Obama Administration. You have to wonder where they found him. Pravda? The fifth dimension? Columbia J-School? Baghdad Bob's School of Media Misrepresentation? You'd have to really search hard to find someone willing and able to tout the party line so diligently while keeping a straight face. And so perfectly named, too!
When asked about the President's position on the Keystone Pipeline at a press conference on March 8th, Carney explained in answer to one of th eusual softballs that the president "believes it is wrong to play politics" with the Keystone pipeline because 'it's route has yet to be determined'....solely because the President refused to approve any of the proposals he was given.
And then five seconds later, when challenged by a reporter about a Politico article that the president was personally lobbying Democrat Senators to kill the amendment for Keystone's funding..he admits that President Obama is doing exactly that!
Of course, the amendment was killed in the Senate. Actually, as I pointed out some time ago, the pipeline, the over 900,000 barrels of oil per day we would have gotten from a friendly neighbor rather than places like Venezuela and the Middle East and the thousands of construction jobs that it would have provided are all gone anyway...because the Canadians got sick and tired of Obama's dithering, sold the oil contracts to the Chineses and rerouted the oil to Vancouver.
Here's what Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had to say about it:
“Last night the two parties reached agreement on amendments to the Highway Bill. I’m happy to report that there are a number of strong job creating measures in the mix. One that stands out is Senator Hoeven’s amendment on the Keystone XL Pipeline.
“Most Americans strongly support building this pipeline and the jobs that would come with it. And it’s incomprehensible to me that the President of the United States is lobbying against it.
“There’s a report this morning that President Obama is personally making phone calls to Democrat Senators he thinks might vote for this amendment. He’s asking them not to. And, frankly, it’s hard to even comprehend how out of touch he is on this issue.
“I mean, think about it: at a moment when millions are out of work, gas prices are skyrocketing and the Middle East is in turmoil, we’ve got a president who’s up making phone calls trying to block a pipeline here at home. It’s unbelievable.
“What we’re seeing in Congress this week is a study in contrasts.
“On the one hand you’ve got a Republican-controlled House that’s about to pass a bipartisan jobs bill that would help entrepreneurs and innovators by getting Washington out of the way. And today we’ve got a Democratic-controlled Senate trying to line up votes against amendments that would create jobs—and a President lobbying against the biggest one.
“We’ve got an opportunity to work together to create jobs. We can do that with these amendments. And we can do that by taking up the bipartisan jobs bill the House will pass later today.
“Let me just say a word about that. The bipartisan jobs bill the House will pass later today is supported by the President. It is ready to go, and I hope that once it gets over to the Senate we'll simply take it up and pass it.
“It's an example of a measure that is supported by Republicans and Democrats and the President that we believe will clear the House with a very large majority. I think the sooner we pass that here in the Senate and send it down to the President for signature, the better.
“With that, Mr. President, I yield the floor.”
Senator McConnell is very wrong on one thing - President Obama is very much in touch on this issue.
What he and his far Left myrmidons want is an America where gas prices are as high or higher than they are in Europe, where most people are forced into public transportation run by the government and the private cars that exist are abomination like the Volt, where a lightbulb costs ten times as much as before and its' breaking calls for a major hazmat cleansing rather than a broom and a dustpan.
And above all, an America where the tax payers are raped by government giveaways to green energy scams run by well connected insiders and Democrat campaign donors.
Because America, in his mind, deserves to be taken down a peg and made to pay for our sins.

SecDef Panetta: 'International Permission’ Trumps Congress For OK On Military Action
Here, in response to questioning from Sen. Sessions at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing March 7, 2012, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey both say essentially that "international permission," rather than Congressional approval, provides a 'legal basis' for military action by the United States.
Constitution? What Constitution? All hail the New International Order and the Blue UN flag!
Of course, if Panetta is allowed to finish following President Obama's orders to hollow out our military,we stand to lose a lot of our capacity to act independently anyway. Which of course is exactly what this president has in mind.

Obama Administration's Hidden Fee On Home Loans A Secret Tax Increase

President Obama has trumpeted the temporary payroll tax cut as his major victory for middle class Americans. Unfortunately, he isn't telling you about the massive screwing over homeowners are getting to pay for a few hundred dollars in savings.
Hidden in the bill that the president signed that came down from the Senate is a provision that adds a minimum monthly fee of one tenth of one percent per month for every $200,000 of the loan amount on every purchase or refinance - for the life of the loan.
For those of you whom are math challenged, for a $300,000 purchase or refinance loan, that amounts to $37.50 added on to your monthly payments...every year you have your loan:
The new fee is a minimum of one-tenth of 1 percent on Fannie Mae- and Freddie Mac-backed loans, and is likely to go much higher.
It will be imposed for the next 10 years on most mortgages and refinancings and it lasts for the life of the loan.
For every $200,000, it amounts to an extra $15 dollars a month.
It's bad news for Patty Anderson, who's buying a home in Virginia.
Anderson will save a couple hundred dollars from having her payroll tax cut extended but her mortgage broker told her the new fee would cost her almost $9,500.
"I was absolutely startled that it would add up to that much," she said.
The $35.7 billion collected in fees won't go into the Social Security fund to replace the lost payroll tax. It goes to the general treasury where Congress can spend it however they please.
Bill Burnett, Anderson's broker and president of the Virginia Association of Mortgage Brokers, said you won't see Congress' new charge in the paperwork, but it's there.
"It's actually built into this [interest] rate. You would never see the fee as a cost to you," he said. {...}
One congressman, Florida Republican Allen West, said he tried to blow the whistle on the whole thing before Christmas.
"I read the legislation and raised the flag. Unfortunately nobody paid attention to what I was saying at the time," he said, calling the fee a backdoor tax increase on the middle class.
"It absolutely is because you're talking about the homeowners - when you're talking about the people that are gonna be using the Fannie Mae, the Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored enterprises - it is absolutely a tax increase on them."
An Obama administration official defended the mortgage fee, calling it "modest." She said it's "unlikely to negatively affect borrowers" because increases "will be phased in over the next two years." And it will "help bring private capital back into the mortgage market, which [is] good for borrowers over the long term."
Except it isn't going into 'private capital' but right into Congress's general fund.Hey,what one more lie at this point?
$9,500 in new taxes in exchange for a couple of hundred dollars in tax relief for two months. This is what President Obama and the Democrats mean by 'new revenues'. And it's exactly what the GOP presidential candidates ought to be screaming bloody murder about.

$9,500 in new taxes in exchange for a couple of hundred dollars in tax relief for two months. This is what President Obama and the Democrats mean by 'new revenues'. And it's exactly what the GOP presidential candidates ought to be screaming bloody murder about.

Occupy Oakland Creeps Riot, Break Into City Hall, Burn American Flag

You'll remember that far left Oakland mayor Democrat Jean Quan was noticeably tolerant and supportive of the #Occupy Oakland creeps the last time they erupted back in November.Their pestilential encampment was only dismantled by police after it became a major health hazard.
Over the weekend, #Occupy Oakland repaid the city's tolerance by breaking into City Hall and did massive damage to the facility, including seizing American flags and burning them as part of the festivities. They also tore down fencing at the adjacent Henry Kaiser convention center and smashed everything they could get their hands on, including construction equipment left onsite. The #Occupy mob fought with police throughout the entire day, throwing rocks, bottles and other objects at officers. The Police responded by deploying smoke, tear gas and bean bag rounds. They later marched downtown, breaking into a number of buildings including a YMCA and damaging them.Over 300 were arrested.
The riot occurred after #Occupy protesters demanded the use a vacant building as a social center and threatened to to shut down the port, occupy the airport and take over City Hall.
Mayor Quan was typically schizoid about the event, on one hand demanding that the rioters "stop using Oakland as its playground" and on the other hand refusing to condemn the #Occupy movement, blaming on a small "very radical, violent" splinter group within #Occupy for the violence and destruction.
In media stories about this and other incidents, it's notable that no mention has been made of the fact that prominent Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and President Obama have explicitly endorsed the #Occupy protesters and everything they stand for. And that the Democrats and of course Democrat paymaster George Soros have helped finance it.

Obama's State Of The Union - The Hollow Man
Ah, the Hollow Man...As I've told you before, I listen to these things so you don't have to, and I've got a pretty strong stomach - but tonight's festivities were truly something else.
A transcript is available here for those of you into self-mortification, but I'll go over the basics.
First off, the speech was obviously very well rehearsed down to the last vocal inflection and raised eyebrow..in fact. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there were theatrical directions emanating from TOTUS tonight. Simply amazing..yet as he spoke, the contradictions between what was coming out of his mouth and what we've seen coming out of this White House are so radically different they underlined one of the qualities I dislike most about this president -the way he arrogantly thinks everyone's stupid except him, and thinks that the usual rule that nothing ever goes away on the internet doesn't apply where he's concerned.
The president started off and ended by invoking what he referred to as 'this generation of heroes' returning from victory in Iraq, and indeed he used the military frequently as an example of how he wants the Republicans in Congress to behave . It was disgusting to hear, considering how Senator Obama and many of his fellow Democrats cheering him on tonight did everything they could to sabotage our troops in the field and their mission during wartime. Yet he had the unmitigated gall to use military teamwork as an example of what he wants to see in Washington!
Our military is legally bound to follow President Obama's orders no matter how nonsensical. Congress is not, especially when their common sense revolts and it was both deeply insulting as well as very revealing of the president to use the comparison, making the expected rhetoric that came later about working together a mockery. As if President Obama made any pretense of that when he and the Democrats controlled Congress!
The president of course mentioned bin-Laden, and regular members of Joshua's Army may recall what I had to say President Obama's chief boast perhaps being a huge error. And his statement about how the Taliban's momentum has been broken was simply a blatant falsehood - which is exactly why we're desperately negotiating with them and just released one of their leaders with American blood on his hands from Club Gitmo as a 'confidence gesture'.
The president's chief theme, under the slogan 'an economy built to last' is actually pretty simple - eat the rich and punish the corporations to pay for more government spending.
He called for a punishment levy on 'big banks' and 'big oil companies' and is apparently going to sic Eric Holder on the financial sector to ' find out who was responsible for the mortgage collapse'. I guarantee you that well connected Democrats like Franklin Raines and Jaimie Gorelick who ran Fannie Mae into the ground and walked away with multi-million dollar bonuses are not going to have to worry on that account.
You see, it wasn't the banks that made the rules that governed the secondary mortgage market..it was Washington, and government entities Fannie and Freddie set the pace by reducing underwriting standards and down payment requirements while demanding that lenders make more loans to the unqualified based on racial bean counting. And the Democrat majority in Congress defended them from any oversight or reigning in while they did it.
The president went on to mention his great achievement of 'saving' the auto industry. Will anyone remind him that he did it by gifting GM to his union political allies, crapping on private equity holders and giving the company special tax breaks at the taxpayer's expense to make them look artificially profitable? Or that he allowed GM to do stock dumping that was against SEC rules?
Or about the outright lies he told the American people about GM and Chrysler being profitable and returning the money used to bail them out, when in reality they were a huge loss?
We also had to listen to the president's blathering about trade. Rather than lower our corporate income tax sufficiently to encourage more companies to do business here, his solution is to put another punishment levy on companies that outsource, which will have the effect of even more companies relocating all but bare bones operations elsewhere. When Canada's corporate rate is less than half of ours, why not ?
It was also unintentionally comical to hear the president make a vague call for tearing down regulations that stifle entrepreneurship in one part of his speech while mentioning at least three or four brand new regulatory bureaucracies he wants to create and calling for cap n' trade and climate change legislation in another.
The president went on to discuss education, and of course his solution is to spend more taxpayer dollars to hire more teachers to pay more union dues to fund the Democrats. For such a pro-education guy, you'd never think he'd be the one to stop poor kids from getting into a decent school right there in DC.
Not to mention the trillion dollar time bomb for America's economy this president enacted by executive order concerning a new student loans entitlement that will eventually create a bubble similar to housing and is guaranteed to raise the cost of college education.
Yes, he really does intend to bankrupt the country. Or he's simply clueless, take your pick.
The president also got in a nice plug for the DREAM Act for illegal aliens that he enacted by executive order after Congress rejected it twice. What was that about working together again?
President Obama made quite a thing about his favoring the creation of domestic energy while believing that those of us listening would forget about his job killing de facto prohibition on offshore drilling, his opposition to drilling in ANWR , his recent fiasco with the Keystone Pipeline and his war on the coal industry. Or about Solyndra and the other green energy scams he doled out to his campaign donors and bundlers. All you have to do is look at what the price at the pump was when he came into office and what it is now, the largest increase in history...and that doesn't even calculate the corresponding rise in the price of food and other goods.
And speaking of Keystone, I had to chuckle at President Obama's solemnly intoning the so-called Buffet Rule as an example of how 'the rich' should behave. Buffet, a nicely placed Obama donor stands to make a tidy sum because the pipeline got cancelled because the oil we buy from Canada will now have to be shipped via Buffet's railroads. At a surcharge, of course. It's good to be the King's friend!
There's plenty more, but a few final bits that stood out.
President Obama talked a bit about his foreign policy. He reverently evoked the Arab Spring he helped along as 'a wave of change', which it is. He failed to mention that the change involves the rebirth of al-Qaeda and some of it's affiliates in these countries and replacing dictators like Khaddaffi who was no threat to us and Mubarak, Ali Abdullah Saleh and Ben Ali who were at least nominal allies and replacing them with hard line Islamists and salafists who are not going to be friends to the West, not to mention the 'men and women; Christians, Muslims, and Jews' whose dignity and freedom he claims to be so concerned about. President Obama committed an an historic error here that will come back to haunt us long after he departs the scene.
The president also mentioned what he described as his 'iron clad commitment to Israel's security' which is news to those of us who have followed the interaction between this president and Israel closely. But hey, it's election time, and there a sucker born every minute.
I also found it particularly nauseating to hear this president talk about how smart he is in hollowing out our military budget and in the next moment talking about jobs and VA benefits for those he described as 'those men and women in uniform who defend our freedom.'
This is the same president who is laying off an estimated 500,000 military personnel, many of them who haven't been in long enough to become vested for a military pension or full medical benefits. They'll simply be tossed into an already toxic job market for their 'reward' so President Obama can have more money for his domestic agenda. And I got a horrible taste in my mouth hearing the same President who tried to take away their VA benefits early in his administration talk about health care for veterans.
You have to wonder at what goes through someone's mind when putting on this kind of a performance. Is it simply a case of 'the show must go on'? Or has he simply been mouthing these lies and untruths for so long that he actually believes them by now?
Barack Obama is the modern version of Rehoboam, telling the people of America that he's going to double down his failed policies and add to their yoke.
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, who gave the Republican rebuttal did a decent job of responding to the president's little show tonight. But he didn't mention much about a lot of the things I've talked about here, and most of the media certainly won't.
That's the real tragedy. It's one thing to snicker to yourself as you see through a cynical con man going through his act for you, but it' s quite another to keep quiet about it and let the rubes get screwed in the name of 'civility' by the Hollow Men of this world.
They deserve better at your hands. We all do.

Obama's Target - Mitt Romney
One matter of interest about the current GOP race - in spite of Newt Gingrich's recent surge of popularity, the main target of the Obama campaign and it's surrogates remains - Mitt Romney.
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the major public employee union is spending 7 figure sums on ads depicting Governor Romney as an out of touch greedy plutocrat.
In Florida, the SEIU and a super-PAC supporting President Obama have teamed up to make a major buy in Spanish language media, running an ad attacking Romney titled “Dos Caras” or "Two Faces".
And tonight, depend on President Obama's State of the Union address to bash the class war drum for all he's worth by concentrating on ' the wealthy few', 'tax reform' ( read 'tax the rich' and 'economic inequality'. Romney's name won't be mentioned, but there's no doubt whom the president is talking about. It's the same ridiculous meme the president's surrogates in th epress have been pushing for days, aided and abetted by Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and to an extent, Rick Santorum.
The conclusion's obvious - the Obama campaign considers Romney a much greater threat to the president's re-election than they do Newt Gingrich.
They're very likely right about that.

Obama Tells Another Whopper: "Republicans Forced Me To Reject Keystone PipeLine"

I absolutely cannot believe the gall of this president.
The SorosBots over at Think Progress are broadcasting President Obama's statement on his killing the Keystone Pipeline deal because of the Evil Republicans:
" As the State Department made clear last month, the rushed and arbitrary deadline insisted on by Congressional Republicans prevented a full assessment of the pipeline’s impact, especially the health and safety of the American people, as well as our environment. As a result, the Secretary of State has recommended that the application be denied. And after reviewing the State Department’s report, I agree."
The president is flat out lying. As I revealed previously,it wasn't his decision at all and it wasn't the Republicans, who were just trying to get a decision out of him and get things rolling. The real story is that the Canadians finally got fed up with President Obama's delaying tactics and talk of putting off making a decision until 2013 and decided themselves to cut a deal with China and sell them the oil.
Thanks to this president, we lost out on cheaper prices at the pump, thousands of construction jobs and ticked off one of our closest allies in the bargain. The fault was entirely his.
Spin that, Mr. President!
( hat tip, memeorandum)
