A Personal Message From Israel's Iron Dome Soldiers

Here we have something unique...a nation's warriors talk to the citizens they're defending, the Israeli population being attacked with rockets from Gaza. They look like fierce, young eagles.

I especially liked the last part, a young soldier's message to his mother. The English translation is at the bottom of the screen.

Only in Israel!

When It Comes To Israel, Why Is The World Silent?

http://jpundit.typepad.com/jci/images/dscn0725_1.jpg

Ron Proser, Israel's permanent representative to the United Nations asks the question in today's Chicago Tribune:

Silence. Just silence from the U.N. Silence from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. And silence from major media outlets throughout the world.

Imagine for just a moment if this were happening to cities in, say, Texas. Imagine that the citizens of El Paso, Laredo and San Antonio have to stay inside their homes. Schools are closed, businesses are shut and people have to suspend their lives. Not because of some natural disaster or a nuclear or chemical accident, because groups in Mexico have purchased and are firing thousands of deadly missiles at Texans across the border. Sometimes a school is hit, sometimes a grocery store, and every so often someone is killed.

Imagine a similar occurrence in Seattle, Detroit or Cleveland — with rockets raining in from Canada.

Your reaction to this imagined scenario is, no doubt, incredulity. The very thought of terrorists in another country attacking Americans at random is ludicrous. You know the president would immediately order the U.S. military to respond, root out the terrorists and make sure that the Canadian or Mexican governments clearly understood that this behavior would not be tolerated. The United Nations Security Council would immediately condemn this infringement on a country's sovereignty and the safety of its citizens. The U.N. charter makes a country's self-defense as legal as it is logical. This is universally understood.

So if it is natural to be outraged and support the defense against terrorists who attack Texas, or England or Russia or China, why is it not natural to support the same for Israel? Since the beginning of October, more than 70 rockets and missiles have rained down on southern Israel from the Gaza Strip, which remains under the control of the Hamas terrorist organization. Last week, Israel's densely populated northern towns were hit by rockets fired from Lebanon.

Hamas deliberately fires rockets into the heart of Israel's major cities, which have exploded on playgrounds, near kindergarten classrooms and homes. Last month, a man was killed when a rocket struck his car on his evening commute home. Many more people have been injured. In the last month alone, more than a million Israelis had to stay home from work and more than 200,000 students were unable to attend school. You don't read about this because if it's covered at all, it's buried in the back pages of newspapers.

Although these horrific attacks should appall good people everywhere, not one word of condemnation has come from the Security Council in the United Nations. Peace activists that regularly criticize my country are silent on this one as well.

Read the rest here.

The answer to Ambassador Proser's question is so obvious is doesn't merit one on these pages.

So is the solution, and the Israelis themselves have come to realize it. They're eventually going to have to go back into Gaza and root out this cancer.

Turkey's Erdogan To Give Hamas $300M In Aid

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has written Ismail Haniyya, Prime Minister of the Hamas-led government in the Gaza Strip, inviting him to visit Turkey, and informing him that he has instructed Turkey's Ministry of Finance to allocate $300 Million in aid for Hamas.

Hamas sources said that Erdogan was responding positively to Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal's call for closer relations between Turkey and its fellow Islamist government in Gaza.

The Turkish aid will go a long way towards allowing the genocidal Hamas to continue its War Against the Jews. And yet, our Secretary if Defense Leon Panetta claims that Turkey is interested in 'regional stability' and that it's Israel's responsibility to mend fences with them!

US law states unequivocally that any person or nation associating with or providing aid to a terrorist group is subject to legal penalties if a US citizen and sanctions if a foreign nation. Both the EU and the US have named Hamas an officially designated terrorist group. Are sanctions on Turkey forthcoming ?

And shouldn't someone warn President Obama that his man crush with Erdogan is contrary to US law?

(hat tip Challah Hu Akbar)

The Real Face of The 'OWS' Movement: Occupy Boston Occupies Israeli Consulate

A contingent from the Occupy Boston "Occupy" protest camp marched late Friday afternoon to the building that houses the Israeli consulate in Boston, chanting the usual slogans...

Ira Stoll puts it in perspective:

I can already hear the Occupy Boston people saying the small splinter group that went to the Israeli consulate building doesn't represent all of Occupy Boston, and the Occupy Wall Street people saying that Occupy Boston doesn't represent all of the Occupy movement, and the anti-Israel protesters saying they aren't anti-Semites, they are just anti-Zionist or critical of the policies of the current Israeli government. And some of the rest of them saying that the anti-Israel protesters don't represent all of Occupy any more than Patrick Buchanan represents the entire Republican Party. But at a certain point, one has to wonder why these people are protesting Israel and not some far more abusive government like that of China, Iran, or Syria. I can already hear them saying that America doesn't give billions a year in aid to China, Iran, or Syria.

Still, the whole event illustrates the way the Occupy movement has become a forum for people to air whatever pre-existing grievance or agenda they have, even if it has nothing to do with Wall Street. And how readily a protest against bankers can elide into one against the Jewish state.

Actually, as I pointed out some time ago, there has always been a current of anti-Semitism in the OWS movement...one reason it's so popular with Paulistas of a certain mindset. And by the way, the occupation of the Israeli consulate was not a splinter group, but an officially sanctioned event.

The comments of the humanoid who posted this video, some of the comments of people who responded there and a number of the comments on Stoll's site are the best argument I can think for a strong powerful Israel. if it weren't for people like these, a Jewish State would not be a necessity. And yes, the idiot who put this up on YouTube originally got it from George Soros' Think Progress.

Oh, and just in passing...that same idiot in his description of the video claims that the storming of the Israeli consulate was done in 'solidarity'..because 'A flotilla with as many as a dozen activists -- including Code Pink's Kit Kittredge- was bound to Gaza bearing humanitarian aide on November 4th. The Israeli military boarded seized the ship, and took all of the activists into custody'.

First of all, the two ships were attempting to break a blockade already deemed in accordance with international law. Second, the ships were directed by the Israeli Navy to go into port at Ashdod where any humanitarian supplies they had ( which Gaza is not in need of anyway) would be checked, offloaded and sent to Gaza. They were only boarded when they refused. And third, when the ships were examined, they had no 'humanitarian supplies' on board whatsoever. Just like there was no aid on the Mavi Marmara.

They were simply attempting to cause an international incident.
